Philippines tourism to shrug off China warning

The Philippines is increasingly relying on tourism as a growth industry. But the country still receives far fewer visitors than many of its neighbours in Asia.

What's more, there has been a sudden drop in the number of tourists from China. This followed a travel warning issued by Beijing, citing what it called a "worsened security situation in the Philippines".
The falling numbers have had a significant impact on popular destinations such as the resort island of Boracay.
The BBC asked Philippines' Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez if the current friction between the two countries in the South China Sea is to blame. - © Provided by BBC News Business
