Illegal drugs were found being packed in Chinese tea containers in a large manufacturing facility in Camiling, Tarlac, that was raided by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) the other day.
NBI Deputy Director for Investigation Services Ricardo Pangan Jr. said that three Chinese nationals were arrested while P3 billion worth of illegal drugs, equipment and chemicals were seized.
Pangan noted that the clandestine drug lab produces methampethamine hydrochloride, with the street name “shabu.” Some of them had already been packed in containers marked as Chinese tea, supposedly made in China.
“Nilalagay nila sa lagayan ng Chinese tea (These were being placed in Chinese tea containers),” he said.

So far, Pangan said that they were able to weigh 15 kilograms of shabu during Thursday’s inventory but noted that they have yet to determine the total wieght of the illegal drugs since the inventory has not yet been finished.
The NBI official said that the drug facility was operating in a warehouse located in a residential area along Bonifacio St. in Camiling.
Pangan said that the drug lab is one of the biggest that the NBI has raided.
“Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng ganoon kalaki. Namangha nga ako e (This is the only I saw something that big. I got awed),” Pangan described when he went to the warehouse.
The NBI official said that the drug lab has been there for around two months and started to operate “full blast” for two weeks.
“High tech ang ginagamit na equipment nila at hindi mo maamoy sa labas ang droga (The equipment they were using were so high tech that you cannot smell the illegal drugs from outside),” he noted. - © Provided by Manila Bulletin
