Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said he is facing Senator Antonio Trillanes, IV in a debate, and not Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, because it was the former who filed the resolution for the Senate probe into the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.
“Some are asking why I chose him instead of Cayetano. Because he was the one who filed the resolution. Some say that I should debate with Cayetano instead but then it was Sen. Trillanes who filed the resolution. So he is the person I should debate with,” Binay said in Filipino when interviewed last Thursday by dyHP RMN Cebu.
Binay said he has been aching to face Trillanes in a debate on neutral ground.
He said he also heard that Trillanes had allegedly been saying that he wants to see Binay die.

“I heard he wants to see me die. He also said that we should remember that he was the one who sent Sen. Enrile to jail. And Secretary Angie Reyes committed suicide because of him,” the Vice President said, quoting supposed pronouncements by Trillanes.
Reyes, the late Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff committed suicide in 2011 after a Senate investigation into the alleged irregularities in the military.
Binay said he decided to skip Thursday’s Senate hearing as he is convinced that the inquiry is already “prejudged” and it was “useless” for him to air his side.
Being the leading contender in the presidential race in 2016 based on surveys, Binay claimed that the accusations against him are just meant to derail his bid to succeed President Aquino in 2016. - © Provided by Manila Bulletin
