The alleged Philippine National Police
(PNP) Director General Alan Purisima confidently claimed his conscience is
"very, very clean" as he evaluated what he called "rabid"
attacks from the media.
In a press conference, Purisima
specifically named ABS -CBN 's Ted Failon and other ABS -CBN journalists who allegedly criticized him. He
was called "tenacious and rabid" accusations on his supposed wealth.
He said the descriptions by the media
in their reports appeared to inflate the real physical status of his property
in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Contrary to what has been described by the media
in their reports, Pursima said that hi property has a market value between
P2.337 million and P4 million.
“The total floor area [of the house] is
only 204 square meters only. Based on the tax declaration of real properties in
Nueva Ecija, it is worth P818,260, with a market value of P2,337,900,” he said.
Purisima considers the property - which
totals 4.7 hectares land area – may only worth about P3 million to P4 million.
"The aerial shot they took does
not show what is on the ground. The gazebo they mentioned is a simple nipa hut
worth P17,890. The garage is worth P52,630. The guard house and guest house is
worth P510,420,” he said.
He also made it cleared tthe swimming
pool, which was described in a report as Olympic-sized, is only 7.5 meters by
15 meters.
"I’m inviting [the members of the
media] to come. Let’s have a picnic by the swimming pool. There is an Arowana [fish]
there,” Purisima said.
Purisima admitted he also has a
property on the Palayan side of the province, "which I acquired from the
farmers there at a low price because they could not finance the land
anymore."
Asked about the imported, bullet-proof
V8 Land Cruiser GXR he is using, he said, “it’s just being lent to me because I
could not afford one. It’s being provided to me because of my enemies who want
to ambush me. He also said that the private vehicle has no contracts with the PNP.
Purisima avoided more questions from
the media, saying he has a meeting in Malacanang. President Benigno Aquino III earlier vouched
for Purisima's integrity.
