Philippine Army Will Deploy 120 CAFGUs In Bataan

To ensure the existing stability of peace and order in the local industrial area, the Philippine Army will deploy more than 120 Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Bataan.
This action was approved by Lt. Col. Gilmar Galicia, who is Commanding Officer of the 3,000-strong CAFGU and Army soldiers, and Gov. Abet S. During their meeting held at the government office in Bulwagan on Monday morning.
The CAFGU personnel will be detailed along the Circumferential Road, coastal and forested areas of Bataan to help the police in maintaining the peace and order mission as well as assisting them protecting the remaining forested areas of Bataan.
In a report, Garcia said that he wants I the Circumferential Road will always be free from traffic hazards and that the smooth flow of traffic is always maintained.
Col. Galicia, is confident that his men will not only run after rebels, if there is any, but they will also help in protecting the forested mountains and coastal areas of Bataan.
As with the CAFGUs, aside from their campaign against illegal logging in the local area, they also play a major role in preserving the coastal areas. They have already started propagating coral reefs along the waters of Bagac town, a praiseworthy job undertaken by Col. Galician and his men.
“This (coral reef) is one way of attracting to the coming APEC meeting to be held here,” said Col. Galicia.
Noting that the CAFGUs workforces will work for the interest of Bataan in mainly in peace and order, Gov. Garcia also guarantees the financial support to the deployment and operation these personnel.
